Ataxic Cerebral Palsy

Ataxic cerebral palsy is a type of cerebral palsy in which patient have poor coordination of movements and low muscle tone. This type of cerebral palsy is rare, only 5 to 10 percent of total CP patient are affected from ataxic cerebral palsy. This cerebral palsy is very dangerous because it affects to your child but it also affect to you also. The patients of ataxic cerebral palsy may not be able to balance their body and have problems in walking. Child with ataxic cerebral palsy looks shaky and unsteady. This CP has disorder of balance and depth penetration. Very old persons are not being able to hold small objects in ataxic cerebral palsy.

Fact about ataxic cerebral palsy -
Ataxic cerebral palsy cause due to damage of cerebellum in brain, due to this damage the patient may not be able to balance and coordinate body movements.

Ataxic cerebral palsy results –
Poor muscle tone or hypotonia disorder
Depth perception disorders
Problems in controlling body motions
Various tremors
Problems in balancing body

Signs of ataxic cerebral palsy in children –
Disabilities like hearing disorder, visual disorder, mental retardation etc.
Child have ataxic cerebral palsy may has coarser movements.
Demonstrating unsteady gait
Improper writing job
Problems in movement of eyeballs
Problems in voluntary movements

Through MRI, CT scan and meticulous physical examination physician easily find the ataxic cerebral palsy in children. These tests also help the physician to find if the brain of child is developing normally or not. The treatment of ataxic cerebral palsy is formulated. But it is treated with medical substances and therapies. Chronic cerebella is the popular treatment of ataxic cerebral palsy. In this treatment an electrode is placed to the surface of damaged brain for the restore of body balance and muscle tone.

Cerebral palsy is a disorder of brain and ataxic cerebral palsy is a very serious disorder, so it is important for parents to know the sigh of ataxic cerebral palsy, it will helps them to identify their child if he/she is suffering from ataxic cerebral palsy or not.
